Copper Organics: a sweater pin

Copper Organics, originally uploaded by Mrs. Shamus Young.

This is a before and after montage of a sweater pin I made in college. I loved the yin yang feel that occurred when I flipped the sketch so stuck with it. The pin isn’t very well made though it was a fun side project (part of it just happened when I messed up and over heated a section, melting the brass and copper together.) This pin is one of the reasons I miss metal smithing. It is fun to take flat ideas and turn them into 3d and see how they turn out similar but different than what you imagined.

The pin is made of abalone shell, copper, and brass.
